• Be very careful about importing images into illustrator; If you import a color image, say a Photoshop EPS into Illustrator, often before the entire document can be printed or exported, Illustrator will require that you embed the image. When you embed the image, Illustrator will change the colors of the image to something you did not anticipate. The solution? Don't use Illustrator for page layout.

• Whenever possible, convert your type into outlines. This will eliminate the need to include those fonts.

• Create your artwork, logos, special type in Illustrator and place them in your page layout program.

• Check your color swatches very closely. It's easy to use extra colors without realizing it.
