Preparing Postscript files
For Macintosh Users we can provide you with our Macintosh Printer Description File which you would place in your System Folder>Extensions>Printer Descriptions Folder.
This will allow Mac Users to create postscript files for our equipment.
*Our PPD file is updated periodically. Be sure you have the most current PPD each time you create a Postscript file.
This applies to Mac Users only.
The current file is named: agfa1102PPD.zip
This is a compressed file, and requires Aladdin's Stuffit Expander to expand. You'll find it at: www.stuffit.com
For Windows Users, Install the Adobe PS Program we've provided a link for it here.
To use the Adobe PS Program, Install it as you would any Windows Program, then use the parameters above when you make your postscript files. This is done by checking the "Print to File" box when you choose File>Print.
Postscript files are files that contain instructions for a printing device, such a laser printer or film imagesetter, allowing it to print your job. Since each program prints differently, we can only tell you the basic settings that our equipment requires:
- 2400 dots per inch
- 150 line per inch screen
- Emulsion Down
- Positive Image
- Media Width 14 "
Creating Postscript files has the advantage of not needing any additional files; they are of course not editable, but we still have clients that find this method quick and convenient. You can preview your PS files by distilling them with Acrobat Distiller and viewing them as a PDF file. This helps to ensure that the file will be output as you intended.
