A Word About Proofing...

Simply put, proofing is a necessary step in the printing process. We offer different kinds of proofs, that serve different purposes. They are listed here:

1. Laser Proofs. - As their name implies, these are output by a laser printer either in color or black and white.
These are meant for position and content. Not for color quality approval. "Lasers" are usually made prior to film is generated, or when type corrections are made. Mandatory for in-house typesetting.


2. Dylux/Blueline Proofs. - These are proofs made from actual film negatives. They are blue image on cream colored paper. They are intended for content, position, pagination, and limited color break Not for color quality approval. Mandatory for booklet work.

3. Matchprint Color Proofs. - These are high-quality laminate proofs made from film negatives. They are intended for content, position, pagination, color break, and color quality approval.They are only limited in that they do not match Pantone spot color inks, since they are meant for four-color process printing. Mandatory for 4 color process.

4. PDF Proofs. - These are electronic proofs that are viewed using Adobes Acrobat Reader program, which is free from Adobes web site.
They are intended for content, position, and some color-breaking. They are not intended for color match or quality. Viewing these proofs of course, requires a graphics-capable computer. These proofs can be sent via email.

5. Black and White Prints. - These are paper proofs made from film, and are used to show halftone (photo) and type quality. They are not used for color, or color breaks.

Note: Proofing responsibility rests primarily with the client. Proofing is a safeguard against errors and omissions. The responsibility of a jobs accuracy or completeness does not transfer to the Printer if a customer refuses to view a proof of their job for any reason.
